Nana Akua, Rebecca Little, Claire Crompton and Tim Wheeler at BBC Three Counties Radio
Two stars of the 2018 Hitchin Ladies Calendar were live on BBC Three Counties Radio this morning (Saturday 14 Oct).
Rebecca Little and Claire Crompton appeared on the Nana Akua and Tim Wheeler breakfast show to promote the calendar and talk about the phenomenal worldwide success it enjoyed last year.
During the interview Claire explained how the story was picked up first by the local press, then by a number of the national daily newspapers and other social media platforms - before going truly international when American rap star Fifty Cent retweeted the story resulting in sales across 17 or 18 different countries.
Claire also talked about how the success of the calendar last year inspired the Ladies Section to share proceeds from this year's calendar with Wheelchair Rugby. And about how the story has again been picked up this year by the local and national press (for more on that follow the links at the end of this article).

Rebecca talked about the development of women's rugby at Hitchin over the last three years and about she got into the game through one of the recruitment drives two years ago. When asked about her rugby, Rebecca said, " It's great way of getting fit and exercising, but it teaches you a lot. It teaches you about discipline, about sportsmanship and teamwork - to just get back up when you're knocked down, to keep running, to keep going." Well said, Rebecca!
Ever on the look out for a talented new player, Claire tried to recruit presenter Nana Akua by inviting her to come along to a training session at the club. We look forward to seeing Nana at KGV soon.
