Summer 2017: our pitches need a holiday too

RUGBY PITCH USE IN CLOSE SEASON

Your cooperation is needed

Pitches, like players, need a rest at the end of a long season!

Pitch 3 (near Priory school) is in quite good shape.

But after a season of heavy and constant use Pitches 1 and 2 are in need of serious renovation.

Over the next month or so your club is investing about £10,000 in a planned pitch-maintenance programme. For pitches 1 and 2 this includes:

 • verti-draining
 • application of a top dressing of 40-60 tonnes of sand,
 • complete re-seeding and chemical fertilising of both these pitches.

And in addition, some basic work will be carried out on pitch 3

It is therefore essential that no rugby or training takes place on the three pitches from now until the end of July. This will ensure we can produce a good sward of grass for the 2017-18 season. We are therefore asking for your help to ensure that this happens.

Exception: North Herts Crusaders rugby league club will be able to train on Pitch 3 on Wednesday evenings and play on some Saturdays throughout the summer. And from 1 July 2017, Pitch 3 will also be available for senior training.

Touch rugby – special pitches will be marked out, away from the main pitches. These are shown in the schematic plan attached.
